Still Here 005

I feel complete.

I went into a flow state creating this. With my PICC line still in my arm. Sometimes, sitting on my couch, eating through my heart, I edited. With a hunched back, I found words that have been keeping me for years.

The books are signed. They are packed. Today, they ship, which means some of you will hold Towards What Hurt in your hands before it officially arrives on September 8th. The ones who believed in it early get it first.

It's not perfect. Some may say it isn't poetry, more like declarations, or axioms, even prayers. But it is poetry to me. Formed through lived experience. Downloaded in the midnight hour. My encounters, translated into words.

I made this for the person who is spiritual and seeking. Who needs words of strength that aren't religious. Who hasn't given up on poetry.

I build altars. I trust in portals. I'm known to walk through fire, and people await my return.

Yours too.

Because the only constant truth we have is change. I think we struggle, as a society, between struggle and safety, suffering and softness, when in reality liberation is refining. It's demanding. It asks us to return to the self, again and again, tending to the heart, the gut, the mind, and our people.

That's what this book holds — survival, illness, grief, love, memory, and coming back.

Something precious is entering the world. Thank you for being here as it leaves my hands.

With all my love,
